Sign in and set up your workspace
Sign in
Open Keel and enter your work email, then choose Continue with SSO. If your company has set up single sign-on, Keel sends you straight to your company's identity provider. Otherwise you get the Keel sign-in page. After you sign in, you come back to the page you were opening.
- Google and Microsoft buttons appear when your Keel deployment offers them.
- Email me a sign-in link appears only on deployments that turned it on.
- Keel never stores your password. Your identity provider (or Keel's Keycloak) keeps it.
Single sign-on for your company
An Owner sets this up once in Settings › SSO & SCIM (see Security for connecting your own identity provider, requiring SSO and SCIM provisioning). Verified domains send people to the right provider:
- Choose Add domain and enter your email domain (for example
example.com) and the identity provider's alias your Anchor contact gave you. - Publish the TXT record Keel shows (
_keel-challenge.example.comwith the valuekeel-domain-verification=…) in your DNS. - Choose Verify. Once the record is found, everyone with an
@example.comaddress (and its subdomains) goes to your identity provider from Continue with SSO.
A domain can be verified by one organisation only. Consumer mail domains (Gmail, Outlook and similar) can't be used.
Your profile
Choose your name at the bottom of the navigation (or Profile in the user menu) to open Your profile at /me:
- Identity comes from your identity provider — name, email, your role here and how you signed in — and is read-only.
- Preferences: theme, time zone and number format, saved to your account and used everywhere in Keel.
- Sessions: where you're signed in. Sign out of any other session, or all of them at once; Sign out ends this one.
Get an account
How you get your first account depends on your deployment:
- By invitation (the default). Ask an administrator for an invitation, or Request a demo from the sign-in page and Anchor sets up your workspace with you.
- Start a trial (self-serve deployments). Enter your work email, open the link Keel emails you (it works once and expires in 30 minutes), then give your company's name and data region. Keel creates your workspace with you as its Owner and starts the trial. A second email lets you set your password; then sign in.
The data region (US or EU) is recorded on your organisation and shown in Settings.
The first-run wizard
The person who creates the workspace sees a four-step wizard at /welcome:
| Step | What you choose |
|---|---|
| 1. Workspace | Its name and your role. |
| 2. Data | Connect your database (read-only, or through the private agent) or Explore with sample data. |
| 3. Goals | What you want Keel for (consistent BI metrics, AI answers, governance, migration…). |
| 4. Team | Invite a steward and a modeler (optional). |
Your answers are saved as you go: close the browser and you come back to the same step. Skip for now leaves the wizard for good.
With the sample, finishing starts the first scan and Home shows its progress. Proposals are ready to review in well under three minutes. With your own database, finishing opens the connect sheet: continue with Connect a source.
Getting started on Home
Until you've done it all, Home shows a checklist: connect a source, run a scan, review proposals, release the model and serve it. Each step ticks itself from what your workspace actually contains, and you can dismiss the checklist at any time.
